WA Falls To Gould In OT

In a tight league contest, WA fell to Gould Academy in overtime, 95-90.

After climbing out of an early deficit, 3-pointers by junior forward Matt Corey (Londonderry, NH) put WA on top.  A back-and-forth first half lead to a 5-point deficit at the half for the Hilltoppers.

WA came out pressuring Gould in the second half.  Layups by sophomore point guard Quest Harris (Lowell, MA) and sophomore forward Judson Martindale (Sudbury, MA) put the Hilltoppers out in front, but Gould would come back again.  A key 3-pointer by junior guard Paul Durkee (Shrewsbury, MA) tied the game, but Gould would go back in front with a couple big baskets inside.  With time expiring in the second half, Harris threw a pass to Corey in the corner.  After missing his last attempt 15 second earlier, Corey responded with a swish from the right corner as time expired to tie the game and send it into overtime.

Despite the heroic finish, Gould pulled ahead in OT and was able to preserve a 95-90 league victory.

Junior forward Mitch Doherty (Acton, MA) lead WA with 24 points & 12 rebounds.  Corey scored 18 points on 5/7 shooting from beyond the arc.  Junior guard Jordan McAllister (Newburgh, NY) chipped in 12 points.  Harris & Martindale scored 10 & 9 points, respectively.
