WA Gets Big Win At Home
Worcester Academy defeated league opponent Vermont Academy at home on Saturday by a score of 79-59.
The Hilltoppers came out hot early, as baskets by junior forward Mitch Doherty (Acton, MA) and early 3-pointers by junior forward Matt Corey (Londonderry, NH) & sophomore forward Judson Martindale (Sudbury, MA) paced WA. Their defense was the emphasis in this game, and they went into the locker room with a 35-30 lead. Doherty lead the Hilltoppers in scoring in the first half with 11 points.
The second half belonged to sophomore point guard Quest Harris (Lowell, MA). He scored all 23 of his points after halftime, and WA lead throughout the half and cruised to a 79-59 win.
Harris' 23 lead WA, while junior guard Jordan McAllister (Newburgh, NY) scored 17 points. Martindale finished with 16 points, while Doherty netted 11.
WA improves to 6-6 in NEPSAC Class AA play.
