'THE TEMPEST (ON THE AIR!)'
Worcester Academy Middle School proudly presents its production of "The Tempest (On the Air!)" this weekend in the Andes Pit Theatre at Walker Hall. Friday's performance, Nov. 20, will be at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday's performances, Nov. 21 and 22, will be at 3 p.m. Tickets are free, but reservations are required. OPEN GATES LECTURE SERIES
On the evening of
Nov.17, the
Open Gates Lecture Series jazzes things up with a talk about jazz and African-American history and the Harlem Renaissance. The lecture, from
7 to 8:30 p.m. in
Warner Theater, will explain the underlying structure of jazz and how it connects to African-American History.
MATH TEAM PREPARES FOR PRINCETON
On Nov. 16, forty-nine students competed in the second
New England Mathematics League (NEML) competition of the year. The team scored 29 out of 30 points, which keeps them squarely in the Top 10 of the
NEML. Top performers in the competition included
George Fan '12, Steve Kang '11, Nikki Meng '12, and
Dean Miao '10.
The Math Team will send 12 students to the
Princeton University Mathematics Competition, one of the most challenging mathematics competitions in the nation, on Saturday, Nov. 21. Last year,
Worcester Academy placed fourth in the B division, a division restricted to teams of students who all attend the same high school.
ROBOTICS COMPETITION
The Worcester Academy Robotics Club competed in the "WPI Savage Soccer Competition" this past Saturday. Forty-nine teams from throughout New England competed. Worcester Academy finished 26th by winning two out of five competitions.
