HILLTOPPER GOING GREEN

Over the past several years, you may have heard about the various ways in which Worcester Academy is "going green" … initiatives such as the zero waste food service program, and the Green Cup Challenge.

As we continue to deepen our commitment to a sustainable campus, we have identified communications as an area where we can both limit our impact on the environment, and contain costs. Specifically, we are looking for ways to cut back on our paper communications campus-wide.

The Hilltopper, while one of our most important forms of Worcester Academy communications, is also one of our most paper intensive publications. We are currently investigating options for creating a digital magazine version of The Hilltopper. With the widespread availability of eBooks and products like Kindle, the technology is quite advanced, and the quality extremely high.

We'd like to ask your help in becoming as "paperless" as possible, while continuing to communicate with you in an effective and timely manner.

Beginning this fall, we will phase in a digital version of the magazine. Don't worry; we are not doing away with the traditional magazine format completely. But when we consider our commitment to sustainability and cost-effectiveness, and the advanced technology currently available for creating digital magazines, offering a digital option just makes sense all around.
