Worcester Academy's Courtney Duffy '08 made an appearance on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams on Jan. 16.

Courtney, a WA senior who is on her way to Trinity College (Hartford, CT), was interviewed as part of an NBC news series that focused on the college gender imbalance.

Currently, girls outnumber boys 57 - 43 percent in American colleges and universities. This leaves some girls at a disadvantage when applying to institutions that are trying to close the gender gap.

The series, "The Truth About Boys and Girls," began Jan. 14.

Along with its national television broadcast, NBC has addressed the issue on its NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams Web site.

Content on its Web site includes a video of a discussion with Courtney about her college application essay.  The full essay is also available for viewing.

Additionally, NBC Correspondent Savannah Guthrie references Courtney in her online blog, which includes links to Guthrie's findings on the gender imbalance.
